Kontera and Pixsy Corporation today announced a strategic partnership that will enable users to search for relevant video content while viewing in-text ads, enhancing the consumer web experience and providing publishers with additional stickiness.
The partnership will enable consumers to search for multimedia content from a broad index of videos and images. Results will be customized to the in-text ad and search query on topics such as entertainment, sports, travel, cooking and lifestyle.
For example, a consumer might be reading an article on USATourist.com about New York City and mouse-over an in-text ad linked to the keyword "Broadway." Within the in-text ad unit, the user will then be able to access images and video clips from Broadway shows via Pixsy´s Media Search Platform.
According to Kontera´s SVP sales, Bryan Everett, publisher response to the offering has been positive.
"Publishers are looking for tools that increase user value," said Everett. "This offering does that by enabling users to get video and image information based on relevant keywords they´re already engaging with."
Pixsy CEO Chase Norlin said there are benefits to advertisers as well. "There´s currently a proliferation of media content, distributed across a growing network, that represents a tremendous opportunity for advertisers and marketers," he said. "If consumer image and video search are the hottest and fastest growing search activities on the web, (which they are) then there will be a multitude of new ways to monetize that activity and drive new value and conversations to advertisers and marketers."
This is one way.
