Targeted Advertising And Technological Developments |
Internet advertising has come a long way in the past few years. We now have a much greater degree of control over who sees our ads, and this makes it much easier to target just those people that we want to reach. But does this have a long term effect on our business? When you look at how technology has enabled us to be more selective with our advertising, you can see that our advertising dollars are much better placed than they used to be. Instead of running an ad and hoping for the best, we can now use targeted advertising that only reels in the people we want – whether that is down to geographical location, a specific topic niche, or some other pre-requisite that we are looking for. It is clearly in our interests to get targeted traffic to our sites, because this will result in more sales and more interest in what we are doing. The fact that developments have made the systems we use to advertise far more intelligent than they used to be means we already know what kind of results we can expect before we spend a dime. Content targeted advertising can be used within the content of a website itself, linking in with specific words to be sure of attracting the right audience. If we are able to use a system which selects exactly the right type of advert to show the person reading the content, this means we will earn more from having targeted ads shown on our website. It is obvious that not only can we expect to receive better results when using targeted advertising elsewhere to promote our own wares, we can also receive better revenues from using content targeted advertising from other people on our own site, to appeal to our exact audience and attract their attention as well. As far as future technological developments are concerned, further improvements in the ability to attract targeted visitors can only be a good thing. We can only wait and see what else can be done to improve our advertising options still further. Targeted advertising is often conducted through a pay per click business model.
